Our Chinese Classroom (Basic) is designed to help beginners master effectively basic Chinese communicational skill within a short period of time.
The series is made up of three books with ten lessons respectively. Each lesson consists of 2-3 dialogues or passages. Altogether, 30 scenarios were designed, such as "greetings", "introductions", "ordering foods", "taking taxiss", "shopping", etc., covering more than 1000 new words and 200 grammar points.
To make sure that the content is practical and fun in the same time, we chose vocabulary based on HSK Guideline for Chinese Words and Characters (Level 1) and we also adopted a large number of words and dialogues concerning the Chinese society as well as the daily life, study and work of foreigners in China. In terms of grammar, we adapted grammar points from Level 1 to Level 4 in The International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education and made explicit and practical examples to help users apply these points flexibly.
The exercise section is another feature of this series. Apart from the traditional exercises of multiple choice and reading comprehension, several innovative activities such as "practice in classs", "listening comprehensions", "short story of Chinese characters" were developed. With reasonable structures, moderate difficulties and manageable quantities, the activities will help learners understand the lessons fully and put them into practice effectively in a short period of time.
The books aim to develop learners' communicational skills by applying vocabulary and grammar into the most common scenarios. Though practices in listening, speaking, reading and writing, learners may communicate briefly with native Chinese people and lay a solid foundation for further studies.
